Escape from the Belfry

The year is 1945. The horrible war that wrapped the world in torment has come to an end—yet the torment of young Adam Shoemaker lives on. His father never came back from battle, and his mother is in the hospital with tuberculosis. Homeless, Adam seeks shelter in the Cranberry Street Church belfry . . . but Adam is not alone.

The belfry is inhabited by strange spirits. One spirit seems to wish good on others, while the demonic shadows mean only harm. Adam hears them both; they whisper to him and give him power. When thieves break into the church one night, Adam is the only witness, but by revealing himself, he would expose his only home.

Adam has a choice. He can listen to the spirit of the belfry and get his family back, or he can side with the shadow beings, who promise justice to the thieves and power he never imagined. Adam feels as though he is being watched, but with the help of new friends, he stays hidden as he fights to decide who he will call on for help. Will he side with the light or the darkness?

               Escape from the Shadows

It is Easter Break, 1946. Adam Shoemaker finally leaves on his quest to find his father, missing since the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. Adam has changed his name back to Schumacher but accepting his distant past has only increased his fear that his father may have deserted. His mother, released from a tuberculosis hospital, will be safe in a cottage at the Gunderman's home. But, Adam will not travel alone.

Besides a stowaway in the back of his truck, Shaddi, the spirit of good, is with him. Strangely, the dark shadows, the demonic spirits who mean to bring harm, have also followed him from Indiana into Ohio.

Unaware of post-war military activity in the Dayton area, Adam and his friends stumble on an espionage ring. Will the traitors block Adam from finding his father? Will the shadows prevent his success or will Adam finally conquer their hold on him? As the week moves on, time may run out.

                              Prayer Therapy of Jesus

Prayer Therapy of Jesus is a form of prayer in which we pray for release from the negative emotions in our lives that harm us, so God can answer our specific request. The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray and Christ gave them The Lord’s Prayer.

Many of us suffer from ill health, depression, fear, anger and other symptoms of illnesses that have a physical connection. The Prayer Therapy of Jesus teaches us how to pray for release from these elements that hold us captive.

To learn to pray therapeutically, prescriptively, specifically, I have suggested the meaning for each phrase of the Lord’s Prayer. Knowing what each segment means, we can learn to put the prayer into our own words and bury their power in our heart. We pray for release from the negative emotions, three times a day, and then live the reminder of the day, knowing God has heard our prayers.
